Violin bow, Markneukirchen approx. 1940 - frog
tip

Old violin bow from Markneukirchen, approx. 1940

This German violin bow features excellent elasticity and a perfect weight distribution with a balance-point that is sensed well-centered. The bow has a round medium strong stick that was crafted of red brown pernambuco wood; its overall appearance is very typical for bows from the traditional violin making town of Markneukirchen in Saxony, where it was crafted approx. 1940 in an unknown workshop. The nickel mounted ebony frog with Parisian eye demonstrates the flawless craftsmanship of the bow, that features a total length of 74.6 cm, with a measured balance point at 25.2 cm. According to its recommendable, rather soft playing properties this bow features a warm, fluid sound, that is large, mature and deep, with some soft note. Our expert luthiers completely worked over this violin bow that is perfectly preserved and offered in immediate playing condition. This bow would nicely complement a sharp, clear or brilliant sounding violin.
