Good Mittenwald viola, approx. 1900
This is a beautiful viola in excellent condition; it was built around 1940 keeping with traditional Mittenwald craftsmanship. The body of the instrument measures 39.3 cm and was made of quality tonewoods. It has a flat arch. The beautiful grain of its finely grained spruce top and the narrow flamed, two-piece maple back have a luminous orange-brown varnish with a light, transparent patina. Subtle details such as the precisely carved sound holes and the accurate purfling were cleanly executed. The instrument is undamaged and in excellent condition. The viola was professionally reworked in our atelier and its sound was refined to perfection. Its radiant sound is dark, clear, precise and equally balanced over all of the strings. It responds very well. Our special recommendation!
