Fine 1/2 violin from Mirecourt

1/2 - attractive French violin, approx. 1900

The highly elegant French 1/2 violin was handmade in the J.T.L. workshops Mirecourt at the beginning of the 20th century. The harmonious design matches the delightful varnish, which is of a shiny golden yellow colour, in a perfect way. Well selected woods, the top is made of medium grained spruce, the one piece back of mildly flamed maple, contribute to the violins noteworthy bright, warm and strong sound. Its character is matured with a singing resonance in the higher registers and good volume in the lower ranges. The violin is in good condition, with one well repaired crack on the top. A very rare and dignified instrument for ambitioned young connoisseurs.
