English violin of the 19th century
A fine English violin of the late 19th century. The instrument is a fine masterpiece that was made around 1880. The wood selection is superior: the top is made of regular fine grained spruce, the two piece back of flamed maple. The varnish is highly transparent yet of an intense golden yellow color with a wonderful patina. The scroll is accurately and neatly worked out. The violin is in perfect condition and was made ready to play by our luthier. There are two minor repairs at the treble soundhole (around 1 cm in length), the instrument is otherwise undamaged. The individual sound is clear, yet warm and of good volume with a slight sweetness in the higher ranges. Special recommendation!
