lightweight Otto Dürrschmidt violin bow (sold)

A lightweight violin bow by Otto Dürrschmidt, Markneukirchen. The bow was made in the 1970ies and bears the Otto Dürrschmidt stamps on shaft and on the frog. The lightweight round stick is of surprising stiffness and elasticity. The stick is made of light redbrown pernambuco wood. The ebony frog is nickel mounted with pearl eye and pearl slide. The weight is 51,9 g, the length 74,1 cm. The felt balance point is in the middle, slightly towards the frog. The measured balance point is at 26 cm from the adjuster end. This good lightweight bow produces a suprisingly strong, clear, bright sound. Has a very good grip on the string.
