Old Viennese violin, 19th century
Old violin from Vienna, 19th century
Vienna, violin
Violon viennois, 19eme

Probably Vienna: oil varnished 1920's violin with a warm, mellow sound

This wonderful violin was handcrafted in the 1920's, most probably in Vienna. A beautiful replica of Stradivari bearing a a secnd label that refers to Viennes master Anton Wittmann which is however not original. Nevertheless a fine and beautiful instrument, the materials are well chosen, the mildly flamed maple that was used for the two piece back is notably beautiful. The rich and glossy oil varnish bears traces from playing, the varnish is of a dark red-orange color, traces of time determine the appearance of the instrument. Not only advanced players will appreciate this excellent 1920's violin's warm and bright, mellow, well balanced sound - the tone is of remarkable quality in the price range - clear with singing sweetness in the higher registers and well defined mature warmth in the lower ranges. Like all old stringed instruments from Corilon violins, the violin which is completely undamaged has been meticulously worked over by the violin makers in our atelier and is offered with a button repair in very good condition, ready to play.
