Violin, Mittenwald school of violin making
The Mittenwald School of Violin Making was established in the year 1858 and has developed many masters in the métier. This beautifully red brown toned violin appears like a master´s work. However it was handcrafted by a highly skilled scholar named Peter Hofmann in the year 1961, whose high standard of craftsmanship can easily be seen in the detailed scroll and the accurate soundholes. The marvelous tonewoods of the pefectly preserved violin are made of premium MIttenwald spruce and maple. The instrument is labeled "STAATLICHE FACHSCHULE FÜR GEIGENBAU MITTENWALD" and is signed by Hofmanns own hand. The sound can be described as warm and dark, slightly soft in the lower ranges and bright and open in the upper registers.
