Silver mounted violin bow, with a blank frog
This octagonal violin bow is the refined work of a skilled bow maker from Markneukirchen who made this fine piece of art early in the 20th century, around the year 1910. The strong octagonal stick is made of light brown pernambuco wood. With the tension and elasticity that pernambuco wood provides it is the best material available for high end violin bows. The fine blank ebony frog is sterling silver mounted. The slide is made of white mother-o-pearl, reminding of Pretzschner bows. The violin bow measures 74,0 cm from head to button, its balance-point is situated at 26,0 cm from the frog end. While playing the felt balance-point is tending slightly towards the head. This excellent violin bow has the weight and tension to produce a strong, bright, clear, precise and slightly sweetish sound.
