Interesting old English violin, circa 1940
This 1940s violin with a powerful voice is a typical representation of the Cremonese tradition labeled Dom. Marino Esatta. However made by a maker of rather English origin - the broad model with full archings reveal its English provenance. The maker used particularly beautiful woods: the narrowly flamed irregular pattern of the maple of the one-piece back and the ribs give the violin a greatly individual character, which the small, neatly carved scroll completes. The highly transparent light brown varnish shows some wear and signs of use. This unique piece is, with its crack-free corpus and some smaller repairs at the button, scroll and pegbox, in very good condition. The sound projects well and is dominant, clear and luminous.
