Fine sounding Markneukirchen violin of quality
Around 1910, a very experienced Markneukirchen violin maker created this piece, a successfully rendered copy of a Stradivarius model. Exquisite tonewoods are testament to this unknown master's finely honed aesthetic sensibility; its meticulous workmanship reflects its maker's excellent craft and musical knowledge. The harmonious look of the instrument is defined by the evenly and deeply flamed maple which was used to make the ribs, neck and scroll and almost perfectly symmetrical two-piece back. The soundholes are carved elegantly and with great precision in the fine grained spruce which grows slightly wider towards the edges of the instrument. The scroll is broadly carved and full of character. The radiant golden-orange varnish with its slight patina shows that the instrument's previous owners took special care of it but also played it frequently. This instrument is a rare beauty in top condition. Its sound is as strong and precise as it is mature and warm.
