Rare English violin bow by Henry Byrom
This artfully elaborated violin bow was crafted by Henry Byrom in Canterbury in the 1930ies. His original stamp "H. Byrom Canterbury" is engraved on he shaft above the frog. The octagonal stick is made of fine quality pernambuco wood of excellent stiffness, the color is a light brown. The unusually shaped ebony frog is sterling silver mounted and ornated with an inlaid silver flower motive. The flower motive appears as well on the adjuster. This perfectly balanced violin bow measures 74.3 cm and its felt balance point is centered, slightly tending towards the frog. Its measured balance-point is at 26.5 cm from the frog end. This rare English bow produces a strong, lush and huge sound, bright and clear with volume.
