corilon violins

English viola by Harold Lester Styles

This young instrument is a viola made in 1980 by English violin maker Harold Lester Styles. It has a fresh aesthetic with bright oil varnish of a particularly attractive, radiant orange-yellow. There is a playful elegance to its distinctive scroll, gracefully curved sound holes and wonderfully crafted edges and inlays. The character of this viola is a perfect reflection of its origins in the atelier on Walcot Street in Bath, a western English city with a colourful alternative artistic and cultural scene. With its dark, mature, resonant sound, this viola was crafted with such great skill that it also has outstanding earnest and richly enigmatic tones as well. A typically English viola that is easy to play and good for professional standards, undamaged and in perfect condition.
