Markneukirchen viola bow, silver mounted, Arnold Stoess
With its rare combination of tonal and playing qualities, this fine viola bow is a true rarity that was crafted around 1940 by Markneukirchen bow maker Arnold Stöss. The octagonal stick is originally branded, it was made of red-brown pernambuco wood and features a rare combination of strength and stiffness and tensed activity at light weight that allows both pressure and intense, powerful play and active bouncing techniques. The powerful head with elegant lines represents the high quality of craftsmanship, as well as the silver mounted ebony frog with a Pearl eye. This fine viola bow shows expressive traces of use and minor repairs at the frog that are fitting for a well-played bow of its quality and age. The sensed balance-point of the viola bow is broadly centered, the measured balance-point is at 25.2 cm (incl. the adjuster). Viola bows of this quality are internationally sought after, and Markneukirchens excellent reputation is approved by this viola bow suitable for professionals that features a large, warm, clear sound, precise and full of volume - ready to play after a complete work-over by our experienced luthiers.
