Smaller-sized violins after the model of Giovanni Paolo Maggini are true rarities - and attractive instruments especially for young players, who have a sense for beautiful violins. The old German 3/4 violin offered here was built approx. 1900 in Saxony, presumably in the renowned violin making town of Markneukirchen. It is an exceptionally beautiful instrument that features the typical characteristics of the Maggini style, the double purfling and a scroll with an additional winding. Traces of use at the varnish and the wood indicate, that the 3/4 violin's former owners loved its aesthetic and tonal qualities. Besides these traces it is crackfree and well-preserved, in very good condition and ready to play after a complete work-over by our luthier, who applied a new boxwood setup that matches the appearance of the instrument perfectly. We recommend it for it´s beauty, but also for its dark and warm sound, that bears a soft undertone.
