This masterpiece, contemporary Cremona violin by Mauro Lucini marks a debut ― it reflects the sum of the exceptional work the experts at our violin making and restoration workshop at Piazza San Michele do as they build violins and restore the fine instruments in the Corilon catalogue. By giving free rein to their experience, creativity and well-tested expertise about the enigmas of a violin's sound, they have crafted a new instrument with all of the musical and aesthetic properties which make historic violins so famous. The radiance of the thick coat of luminous orange-brown varnish they have applied is to be seen as a tribute to the centuries-old eyewitnesses of musical history which they hold in their hands every day as part of their work at Corilon violins. And this excellently crafted piece is an homage to both the oeuvre of Antonio Stradivari, who served as inspiration for the model, as well as the work of the classic Cremona violin making traditions still being faithfully upheld by the master luthiers of Cremona to this day. The Cremone violin making tradition is not only evident in the choice of moderately grained spruce and beautifully flamed maple; it can also be seen in the elegant and musically sensitive artisanry of the flat table and the two-piece back, giving this violin both its visual appeal and its outstanding playing and acoustic properties. As a premiere of the new line of master violins by Mauro Lucini, this violin has a voice which is radiant, resonant, substantial, carrying and bright suitable for professionals with high expectations ― setting a standard which every subsequent Mauro Lucini master instrument will have to fulfil, a standard that has to meet the high demands of good musicians. This contemporary Cremona master violin is our luthiers‘ personal statement, made in more than 250 hours of meticulous work and refined at our workshop for expert restoration - a promising debut perfectly suitable for professionals with limited budget.
