The later oeuvre of Italian luthier Enzo Lassi is represented by this mid 20th century masterpiece attributed to Enzo Lassi, which is in our opinion rather an English instrument that demonstrates that the maker's artisanal skills were the apex of their maturity.

Professional violinists will be delighted by the the musical options this professional violin offers. This violin attributed to Enzo Lassi, if authentic, impressively confirms that Lassi was not overshadowed by his father and teacher Francesco Lassi in any way, even though musical research might contextualise them this way. Enzo Lassi’s confidence and mastery are already evident in the tone woods he selected; Lassi took the unconventional step of choosing premium-quality beams taken from the rubble of the Teatro Masini which was bombed in World War II. It is not certain but conceivable that the spruce top with its extremely regular grain also came from these ruins; in a typically Italian fashion, delicate traces of budding branches can be seen in the wood. Its grain and the strikingly lovely deep flames of the maple used for the two-piece back are cast in their finest light under the stunningly golden-yellow oil varnish with its delicate crackling. The model of this violin follows the classic Italian tradition in all of its design details, yet it also reflects the influence of Gaetano Pollastri, whose workshop was where Lassi refined the skills he learned in the course of his solid training in his father's workshop. It is thus no surprise that this violin, which features Enzo Lassi's label, has an exceptional sound; it has been carefully set up by our luthiers and is in excellent condition, including a carefully executed repair to the peg box. With its large voice and warm radiance, it will easily satisfy the standards of professional musicians who will appreciate the mature character and rare qualities this violin presents.
