Antique ornate violin, approx. 1900

This violin was built approx. 1900 in Saxony after the patterns of Jacobus Stainer and is a very typical and successful piece, that is decorated with rare ornaments. The Stainer model is unmistakably expressed by the characteristical high archings, the shape of the body and the style of the soundholes, a violin that rightfully bears the corresponding Stainer stamp on the outside of the back. The golden-yellow varnish is very transparent and features strong antique touches, a character that is matched tastefully by the black and white twisted band at the edges. The violin was completely worked over by our luthiers and is offered in very good condition, ready to play, with a perfectly preserved body and a minor repair at the pegbox, that is without any impact on the sound of the instrument. Its voice is clear and dark, with comfortably warm notes.
