Powerful old Mittenwald violin, 1920'ies

This German violin from Mittenwald in Bavaria is a clear work of good craftsmanship, that was handmade in the early 20th century around 1920. It is probably an apprentice piece that was made under the supervision of the master, which can be seen in the somewhat unskillfully made details and the overall good technical concept of this good sounding instrument. The spruce that was used for the top is medium grained, a beautiful tonewood from the Karwendel mountains, just as the mildly flamed maple of the two-piece back. The attractive red-brown colored varnish bears many traces from playing but no cracks affect the quality of this undamaged instrument that features a flat arching. This old Mittenwald violin was worked over meticulously by our luthiers with new ebony pegs, a new bridge, soundpost, chinrest and strings - the softwood fingerboard, which is tonally beneficial, was worked over and preserved. The violin and is offered ready to unfold its powerful. clear, mature, ringing sound.
