Antique Mittenwald violin, circa 1900

This lovely antique violin was crafted by a Mittenwald luthier around the turn of the century. It is a fine and delicately constructed instrument with features appreciated by many male violinists — a rather wide neck and a flat arch of the top and back. The expressive and very skilled carving of the scroll communicates an individual style which suits the historic aesthetic of the intense and deep-red varnish. The patina harmonises with the instrument's interesting personality. Some solid repairs allow us to offer this good violin at a reduced price - and our experienced violinmakers have set it up completely so that it is now ready to play. The violin's clear open sound is warm and bright, with a sweet note to it.
