Antique 19th century Vienna viola, approx. 1870

This recommendable antique viola was built approx. 1870 in Vienna, a quality instrument that is highly suitable demanding advanced players. The transparent light-brown varnish bears many traces from playing which underline the beauty of the medium grained spruce that was used for the top and the deep, narrow flaming of the sycamore maple of the one-piece back. The purfling was accurately inlaid and demonstrates the skills of a good craftsman, who built this good instrument. Without any damage or repair, this viola is offered in excellent condition. Interesting traces of use indicate that this viola was often played, and it is ready to express its convincingly clear and warm, large sound, that has some bright character and is well-balanced, precise, strong and resonant.
