Dark, brilliant sound: Antique Markneukirchen violin after Stradivari, c.1910
This beautiful antique violin of quality was built by an unknown violin maker in Markneukirchen (Saxony) in approx. 1910. It features medium high archings and was designed after classical patterns of Stradivari - a convincing instrument due to its good standards of craftsmanship, excellent tonewoods and indeed very useful sound qualities. The regular medium grained spruce top and the deep flames of the two-piece maple back introduce premium woods that were used in the Vogtland region in Saxony, with a beautiful grain that is decorated by the transparent light-brown varnish applied on a golden ground. The tastefully crafted edges, fine purfling and the archings are the clear works of a talented hand. Our luthiers completely worked over this instrument that is undamaged and in very good condition. We made it ready to play, so its dark, clear, brilliant sound can express its open voice that is rich in overtones.
