Czech 7/8 violin. "Lady's violin", c.1940

This old 7/8 violin is a handmade quality instrument from the Schönbach region in Bohemia. Despite its smaller size this violin features the typical, preferably strong sound that we can recommend immediately. The 7/8 violin is preserved crackfree in very good condition, it bears some minor traces of use as they are common for the age. The golden-brown colored varnish with antiqueings is very transparent and shows the fine grains of the quality tonewoods that were chosen for this violin: medium grained spruce was used to craft the table, the one piece back is made of mildly flamed to plain sycamore maple. The ff-holes are full of character and complete the nice appearance of this 7/8 violin, that was designed with flat arch after a Bergonzi model. We offer this antique instrument in immediate playing condition after a complete work-over and approval by our expert luthiers, with a special recommendation for its bright, clear and open sound, that is strong and rich in overtones.
