Fine French violin bow, for Paul Serdet
This fine and highly recommendable French violin bow was made for Paul Serdet in the early 20th century. It bears his "P. Serdet" stamp on shaft above the frog, a stamp that was only applied to the best quality pieces. Although it is not known who made this beautiful violin bow, it is nevertheless a bow of the finest quality - it is known that Paul Serdet purchased unstamped bows by the finest makers, among them Victor Fetique and Claude Thomassin. This fine violin bow was made of premium quality fernambuco wood, it is a strong, elastic, highly tensed bow that plays both strongly and acively. The stick has a round diameter and features a surprisingly good combination of balance and stiffness: it feels lighter than its actual weight suggests and is well balanced with its perfectly distributed diameter and a centered balance point. The bow has a total length of 74.1 cm. The distinctive ebony frog shows playful elegance, it is silver mounted and has a Parisian eye. This interesting piece is with minor flaws to the head and adjuster but - like all violin bows from Corilon violins - substantially undamaged and ready to play and embodies all of the excellent playing attributes sought after for. With its large, warm yet precise, noble quality sound of typical French character this violin bow is an excellent choice for the professional.
