Brilliant toned Markneukirchen master violin, around 1960
This beautiful and finely crafted German master violin which was crafted in the 1960's in the Saxonian "capital" of instrument-building, Markneukirchen, reflects the finest Vogtland artisanry. It is a rare example of fine handcrafted master production from a period in which the former East Germany was in the process of socialising, industrialising and automating the manufacture of musical instruments on a wide scale. The masterfully applied thick coat of golden-brown oil varnish and the exceptionally good tone woods – a top of premium spruce and a deeply flamed maple back – which the craftsman chose are of unusually high quality. This is a very well-designed instrument with a brilliant, radiant sound rich in overtones, with great clarity and strength. It has been worked over in our luthier's workshop, and we offer it to you in perfect condition, ready to play.
