English Silver mounted violin bow: soft stick, mellow tone

This unstamped silver mounted violin bow with a very soft stick was most likely made in England - it has a weight of 59.1 g. Its round shaft is made of red pernambuco wood with some color irregluarity at the head. The balance point is centered, slightly inclined todays the upper half f the stick. Its head is shaped elegantly with a "long nose" which demonstrates the maker's experience and skills. The silver mounted ebony frog is distinctively designed, the slide and the Parisian eye are made of green-yellow-rose mother of pearl and sterling silver. The total length of the bow is 73.9 cm, its measured balance-point is at 24.6 cm from the frog end. This silver mounted violin bow has traces of use at the stick but is undamaged, it was worked over by our luthiers and is offered ready to produce a warm, mellow sound. This very soft violin bow therefore complements well sharp and brilliant sounding violins but will not be suitable for pressure at play.
