Modern French soloist viola, Jacques Camurat, Paris 1963
This large, originally labeled and stamped French Paris viola by Jacques Camurat, Paris, made in 1963, is our special recommendation for soloists and professional volists: a fine modern instrument by this prominent maker following his unique, self-confident model. The length of back is 42.2 cm. The tonewoods are beautifully selected: the top is medium grained spruce, the two piece back of attractive, deeply flamed maple. The delicate soundholes characteristic for Jacques Camurat's instruments - we have the pleasure to offer a strong sounding violin by this maker as well - and the inlaid purfling are traditionally made in the French tradition. The luminous yet transparent orange-brown oil varnish is richly applied, highly glossy and in very good condition with some very slight surface craquellation and slight wear from playing. This instrument has been extensively played and is maintained undamaged, with minor signs from playing in very good condition. This good Jacques Camurat viola has been meticulously worked over and set up by the specialists on our atelier and is offered with a perfect projection and tone like all Corilon instruments in fine condition, ready to play Her large, resonant sound is warm, clear and precise, even over the strings and well balanced.
