Old German violin, Saxony, approx. 1920

This violin is a powerfully sounding antique German violin with an unmistakable Saxonian provenance. It was built approx. 1920 in Markneukirchen, the famous center of violin making in the Vogtland region, presumably in the workshopsof A.C. Glier. The violin was built after a Stradivari model with medium arch. The arch and purfling is a work of profound craftsmanship, as well as the shape of the small scroll and the edgework. The antiqued, light-brown varnish bears many traces from playing. This good antique German violin is with a repair to the back seam but an undamaged body in very good condition and, like all Corilon instruments, it was carefully worked over by our luthiers, who made it ready to play. The clear, bright sound unfolds strongly, noteworthy is the immediate responce and ease to play.
