As the original label indicates, this violin is opus #64 by the master luthier Bernd Dimbath from Bubenreuth. It was crafted in 2000, a young instrument with remarkable musical qualities. Dimbath is a leading figure in the world of Franconian stringed instruments, and his workshop maintains regular contact with international acoustic researchers so that every detail of his violins' design can be focused on creating the ideal sound. This instrument's unusually lovely voice is large in its warmth and has a pleasant and soft note which indubitably confirms that Bernd Dimbath is meeting the tonal standards he sets for himself. His unique model features curvaceous lower bouts, a large and prettily carved scroll, and cleanly cut sound holes, all of which clearly place the instrument within the craftsman tradition of Bubenreuth and give it a justified sense of self-confidence. The characteristic orange-brown varnish against a yellow background reveals that this violin has been intensely played by skilled musicians. The traces of use are a beautiful complement to the slightly antiqued, patinated varnish which highlight the strikingly lovely grain of the premium tone woods, and Dimbath applied scientific criteria in choosing them. Both the Austrian sycamore maple of the top and the powerfully flamed maple of Bosnian or Carpathian origin used for the two-piece back are the finest materials, and Bernd Dimbath uses woods only after allowing them to age for ten years. Having been set up and made ready to play at our atelier, this outstanding contemporary violin is recommended to demanding musicians who want an attractive instrument with precise playing properties.
