Ernst Heinrich Roth, old German viola made in 1974

The shining, intensivly orange colored spirit-oil varnish of this beautiful old viola by Ernst Heinrich Roth indicates its provenance from the well-known violin making town Bubenreuth impressively. It covers premium tonewoods that feature exceptionally beautiful grain: medium grained spruce was chosen for the top, narrowly and strongly flamed maple for the two-piece back. This viola is a clear example of the visual and acustic quality of the Roth's craftsmanship, as it is demonstrated by the purfling that is laid in very close to the edges and by the soft fluting of top and back. This 1974 viola no. B4 0655 after Antonius Stradivarius 1700 was worked over in our atelier carefully and is offered in perfect condition, immediately ready to play and to unfold its bright, warm, radiant and clear voice.
