Contemporary Italian violin, Lorenzo Bergonzi, Mantova, 1992

A contemporary piece which showcases all of the assets of modern Italian violin making, this Lorenzo Bergonzi instrument is quite young, having been made in 1992 in Mantova. It is an impressive musical calling card by a liutaio of this generation who has established a solid reputation for himself far beyond his home. The drawn-out beesting corners shape the striking character of his personal interpretation of the classic Stradivari model which he studied intently and knew how to implement with confidence. The deeply flamed maple Bergonzi selected for the two-piece back and ribs is set in its finest light under the extremely transparent and luminous orange-brown oil varnish, beautifully applied with an enchanting historic touch because of its fine crackling. The original Lorenzo Bergonzi label in the body confirms the authenticity of this undamaged and crack-free instrument we carefully set up and acoustically optimized at our specialist workshop. It is compelling with its warm, powerful, bright voice and rich range of timbres, blending its great potential with a pleasantly sweet note. We recommend this instrument with its excellent sound of unmistakably Italian provenance.
