19th century violin from Mittenwald, approx. 1850 - warm, sweet tone

This powerful and mature sounding old German violin of quality with its patinated and darkened redbrown varnish was made in the violin making town Mittenwaldin Bavaria around 1850. In keeping with the best local craftsman tradition, the exceptionally good tone woods — medium grained spruce for the top and very elegant mildly flamed sycamore maple for the two-piece back – are coated with a transparent and luminous orange-brown, darkened varnish that enhances the texture of the wood, and over time it developed a beautiful patina. This good Mittenwald violin's warm, sweet, radiant voice is rich in overtones and very resonant, an elegant match for its attractive, appealing and antique appearance. We offer the violin with a minor repair to the button and to the upper right edge of the table (which are considered in the price) in goodcondition and ready to play, after a meticulous work-over in our atelier for lutherie and restoration. Her warm, balanced sound carries mature, radiant and powerfully, full of sweetness and strength.
