19th century violin from Mittenwald, approx. 1850

This powerful and mature sounding old German violin of quality with its highly patinated, retouched and darkened redbrown varnish tells a history - it was made in the violin making town Mittenwaldin Bavaria around 1850. In keeping with the best local craftsman tradition, the exceptionally good tone woods — medium grained spruce for the top and very elegant mildly flamed sycamore maple for the tone-piece back – are coated with a dark red-brown, darkened varnish that enhances the texture of the wood, and it shows many traces from history and developed a beautiful patina - these optical flaws allow us to offer the violin at a competitive price. This good Mittenwald violin's mature radiant voice is rich in overtones and very resonant, an elegant match for its attractive, appealing and antique appearance. We offer the violin crackfree in good condition and ready to play, after a meticulous work-over in our atelier for lutherie and restoration. Her sound carries mature, radiant and powerfully, full of sweetness and strength.
