French violin, Marc Laberte atelier no. 657

A French violin of superior quality was made in the Marc Laberte Ateliers, Mirecourt. It is labeled with the original Marc Laberte atelier label and bears the number 657. A second label states: Grand Prix 1931 - modele d'apres Lupot. This beautiful instrument is an especially fine quality Marc laberte Atelier instrument of unique sound and appearance: the wood on top is regular medium grained spruce, the back is a highly attractive, deeply flamed one piece maple back. The broad model features medium archings and beautifully made flutings. The soundholes are delicately cut. The rich oil varnish is of an intense golden-brown color over a yellow ground, the scroll is blackened. The violin is in perfect and completely undamaged condition and like all fine stringed instruments from Corilon violins, worked over by our violin makers and offered ready to play. The bright, clear and slightly sweetish sound is powerful and precise, the violin projects easily and is convenient to play.
