Interesting antique Czech master violin. Probably Prague, 1880's

This interesting master violin is a Czech work made by an unknown hand, most likely made in Prague around 1880. Fine work can be seen in the details of this powerful instrument made on a Brescian model. The tone woods are well selected: the top made of medium grained spruce, the wonderful two piece back of deeply flamed maple. Beautiful master work can be seen in the archings of top and back, and the individual shape of the scroll. The soft and rich varnish is an oil varnish of quality in texture and color, of a bright golden yellow color. Tow table repairs have been well perfortmed and allow us to offer this interesting and unusual violin at the price - an instrument which is generally well preserved and in excellent condition. This enigmatic violin is ready to play, the well-balanced sound is warm, bright and somewhat sweet in character, textured and radiant in the upper ranges.
