Modern Czech master violin. Probably Prague, 1970's

This fine modern master violin is a Czech masterpiece made by an unknown hand, most likely made in Prague around 1970. Fine work can be seen in the details of this powerful instrument made on a Guarnerius model which was predominantly used by the fine Czech master makers in the 20th century. The tone woods are well selected: the top made of medium grained spruce, the wonderful one piece back of deeply flamed maple. Beautiful master work can be seen in the archings of top and back, and the individual shape of the scroll. The soft and rich varnish is an oil varnish of quality in texture and color, of a bright golden yellow color. The oil varnish is such softa and rich that it takes up structure from fabric easily, however generally well preserved and in excellent condition. This enigmatic violin is completely undamaged and in perfect condition, like all instruments oiffered by us completely worked over and ready to play. The well-balanced sound is warm, powerful and dominant, warm, textured and radiant upper ranges.
