1/2 - fine French 1/2 violin bow, Mirecourt, c.1950

This fine French 1/2 violin bow was made in Mirecourt around 1950, presumably in the Laberte workshops. The round stick is highly elastic and active yet featuring good strength, it is made of fine quality brown pernambuco wood. The ebony frog is nickel mounted with white pearl eye and white pearl slide. The adjuster of nickel with an ebony ring. This active French 1/2 violin bow is very well balanced in the hand, it has its balance point cemtered and measured at 20.8 cm of a total length of 61.9 cm including the length of the adjuster. This fine quality 1/2 violin bow produces a bright, warm tone rich in overtones. A rare-to-find French small sized bow in excellent undamaged condition, worked over by our luthiers and offered ready to play.
