3/4 - Mittenwald violin by J. A. Baader

A rare old Mittenwald violin made by J.A. Baader (purpeyor to the court of Bavaria). The instrument was handmade in Mittenwald in 1923. It is originally labeled and dated. Note that good old Mittenwald small violins such as this one are rarely available to purchase. The woods are well selected: the top is made of medium grained spruce, the one piece back of flamed Mittenwald maple. The beautiful scroll is made in the Mittenwald tradition. The varnish is of a warm red-brown color over a yellow ground. The varnish with wear and signs from playing. The violin is in excellent crackfree condition. It is set up with a new bridge, soundpost and Pirastro strings and is in full playing condition. Its dark resonant sound is clear and strong, carrying, with excellent volume and strength. Comes with an appraisal for € 2.500 by master maker Anton Sprenger, Mittenwald. An excellent instrument, special recommendation!
