Hopf violin. Klingenthal approx. 1800

This historic Hopf violin was made in the Saxonian town of Markneukirchen around 1800, if not perhaps somewhat earlier. It is a classic example of the characteristics found in a historic German violin model which dates back to Caspar Hopf; aficionados today still appreciate the Hopf violin model because of its strong, nuanced and complex sound. The premium quality of this fine master violin is clearly evident in details. The touch of an experienced luthier is also apparent in the beautiful flaming of the one-piece maple back. Like many historic stringed instruments of its era, repairs can be seen on the top of the Hopf violin, this master violin has only two minor table repairs. At our atelier this fine German master violin was carefully restored and we can recommend this ready-to-play instrument without any reservations; this beautiful Hopf violin offers a wide scope of musical options to demanding musicians. Its sound is mature and powerful, with a character that is as warm as it is bright, full of tone colours and very well balanced across all strings and up and down the fingerboard.
