French master violin bow, c.1880, Charles Nicolas Bazin (certificate J.-F. Raffin)

Charles Nicolas Bazin established his own workshop in Mirecourt in the year 1869. Always following the principles of Tourte, C.N. Bazins workmanship was of high precision and quality. Even today bows of C. N. Bazin and his atelier are highly demanded especially by french musicians. This excellent violin bow by Charles Nicolas Bazin modeled afer J. B. Vuillaume is the result of many years of experience, excellent craftsmanship and well selected materials. The round stick is nicely elastic and features good tension and stiffness. The finely finished frog is nickel mounted and decorated with a nacre eye and pearl slide. The overall length of the bow is 74.6 cm. The measured balance-point is at 26.9 cm from the frog end, the felt balance-point is centered, slightly shifted towards the lower half of the stick. This French violin bow produces a crystal, open, textured and huge sound. A certificate of authenticity by Jean-François Raffin, Paris is included in the price.
