Excellent 1960's Markneukirchen violin bow
This strong and skillfully made German violin bow was handmade around 1960 in Markneukirchen in Saxony. The violin bow was crafted with much attention to local bow making tradition and thorough workmanship, especially the frog and the head are accurately carved and neatly finished. The octagonal stick is made of red brown pernambuco wood of the best quality. The stick is of good strength and plays fluidly and powerfully, actively and with beautiful tension. The ebony frog is nickel mounted, decorated with a blue-green shimmering pearl slide. The bows felt balance point is well centered, measured balance-point is at 25.4 cm from the frog end. The violin bow measures 73.9 cm and produces a recommendable warm, clear, powerful and radiant sound with some mellow notes. Complements well soft and mellow sounding violins and adds power and volume to a violin's tone.
