1/2 - antique 19th century French 1/2 violin, c.1870

This rare 19th century 1/2 sized violin was made in Mirecourt, France around 1870. It is a quality piece of an extraordinary high quality and beauty, rare to find in this small size. The beautiful woods are well selected: medium grained spruce for the table, narrow flamed maple for the two piece back. The varnish is a spirit oil varnish of an intense and luminous golden-brown color over a yellow ground. The violin is crackfree and has been worked over by our luthiers, it is now in perfect and immediate playing condition. The violin is equipped with a german Wittner tailpiece with four integrated fine tuners, new boxwood pegs and chinrest and a complete workover by our workshop. The sound is warm, mature, somewhat mellow and unique - with noblesse, perfectly balanced. A rare antique piece for the talented child. Check the details of our trade guarantee.
