Outstanding Markneukirchen violin bow, approx. 1910

This excellent German violin bow with outstanding playing properties was made in Markneukirchen in the early 20th century; its bright, powerful, large, clear sound gives it excellent qualities that make it well suited to demanding playing. Its octagonal stick of dark-brown pernambuco is of beautiful reactivity and good strength. The ebony frog is nickel mounted with a Pearl eye, the frog may be a later replacement. Its balance point is at 25.3 cm, the bow is well balanced, feeling lighter in the hand than its actual weight may suggest and having its perceived balance point slightly inclined towards the lower half of the stick. This strong but reactively playing violin bow with a large clear tone measures 73.8 cm in length and is in good weight.
