OId French violin, Mirecourt, for Paul Beuscher, Paris 1935

This elegant c.1935 French violin after Bergonzi was made in Mirecourt around 1935 for Parisian luthier Paul Beuscher, whose original label it bears. It was mostly the important manufacturer and trader Labert-Humbert Frères who sold prefabricated instruments to Parisian luthiers, where they were finished, varnished and adjusted and who would sell at least a part of these works with their own label. This French Mirecourt violin is presenting the features that are responsible for the great international success of French violins from Mirecourt: a specific sense for aesthetic appearance, with a gentle but high arching, fine purfling, that is inlayed very near to the tender edges, blackened edges of the fine scroll as it is typical French style, and a very good selection of tonewoods, especially the beautifully flamed maple of the two-piece back. In addition to the optical appearance the violin features very good acoustic qualities: powerful players will love the clear, mature sound, which is radiant in the upper ranges. A joy obviously felt by the instrument´s former owners, too, as traces of use on the luminous orange oil varnish varnish clearly indicate. We are offering this violin with these varnish flaws crackfree in substantially perfect condition, completely and professionally worked over, besides the general workover with bridge and soundpost, etc., and like most of our instruments also equipped with new ebony pegs, tailpiece and chinrest.
