Old violin by Wilhelm Kruse, Markneukirchen, 1930's

This recommendable old violin is a good instrument from Markneukirchen in Saxony with a very comfortable appearance, featuring a surprisingly good sound. It was built approx. 1930 on behalf of the small trading company Wilhelm Kruse, a dealer of musical instruments that was founded around the turn of the 20th century and cooperated closely with the violin makers of the region. This violin, bearing Wilhelm Kruse's original label, is an example of the good craftsmahship of an unknown workshop, it was built after a popular and tried-and-true Stradivari model from quality tonewoods, medium grained spruce for the top and beautifully flamed maple that was used for the two-piece back. Golden-brown varnish was applied over a golden-yellow ground and shows some traces of use that are suitable for an often played instrument. The violin was thoroughly worked-over by our experienced luthier and is offered ready to play; it features a bright, strong and warm sound with some sweet notes in the upper ranges.
