This antique "Excelsior" violin was built in 1889 in the workshop of Alfred Moritz in Dresden, the cultural capital of Saxony, after a successfully crafted flat Stradivari model. A label reads "Copy of Antonius Stradivarius fecit Dresdae 1889". The violin was made of selected fine tonewoods by an experienced violin maker: Broadly flamed maple was used to craft the two-piece back, the neat purfling is finest quality and the scroll demonstrates an individual style with unmistakeable character. Golden-brown varnish with beautiful patina completes the antique appearance of the antique violin, which is a perfect match for the bright and warm sound of the instrument. We offer this Excelsior violin in very good condition, carefully worked over by our violin maker and, like all instruments in the Corilon violins online catalogue, immediately ready to play.
