Good French violin bow by Prosper Colas

This good French violin bow from the atelier of Prosper Colas (1842-1919) in Mirecourt is made of fine brazil wood and features the original stamp over the frog. The round stick fetaures good stiffness and elasticity, it is very well balanced due to its perfectly distributed diameter. The bow features a total weight of 57.7 g, its perceived weight is perfect, the balance point is towards the centre, measured at 27.3 cm of the total length of 74.3 cm. This simple Prosper Colas bow embodies all of the good playing attributes that bows from France are famous for. The nickel mounted ebony frog has a mother-of-pearl eye. With its beautiful, fluid and bright sound of typical French character this bow is an unmistakeable work by Prosper Colas.
