Morizot Frères, active French violin bow, Mirecourt
This L. MORIZOT stamped violin bow is an excellent player, it was made in Mirecourt in the atelier of Louis Morizot and his sons in the early century, before the most productive and successful period of their history. It is a typical French violin bow with all the sought-after features of the earlier Louis Morizot bows, especially its highly tensed, active and bounding stick and an excellent powerful, crisp sound, that is bright and radiant. The strong and reactive, tense round stick has a weight of 60.0 g but is perfectly balanced and thus features handy lightness and stiffness and is set up with a nickel-mounted ebony frog with a Pearl eye. Obviously the makers discovered some wormtraces when manufacturing the bow that have old fillings at the end of the stick near the handle, a flaw that has no impact on stability or playing quality of this great Morizot freres bow, a flaw that rather allows us to offer the bow at a competing price. This unique bow features a total length of 74.4 cm including the length of the adjuster and has a well-centered sensed balance-point; slightly inclined towards the upper half of the stick, it is measured at 25.9 cm. We can recommend this highly active Morizot violin bow for especially for virtuoso play.
