German violin by Anton Hoyer, Wuppertal, approx. 1940

The unmistakable German appearance of this interesting early 20th century Wuppertal violin by Anton Hoyer is determined by the accuracy of the work, the small, elegant scroll, the rich, luminous red-brown spirit-oil varnish that features antique touches and typical traces of the violin´s high age, and finally by the excellent choice of tonewoods. Very regular spruce was chosen for the top, and the back was crafted in two pieces according to the interesting flames of the maple. The delicate purfling and the soundholes are examples of careful and experienced craftsmanship by Anton Hoyer, who marked the violin with his original label and brand stamp. Our violin makers spent great time and effort to work over this amazing German violin, that is without any repairs preserved in excellent condition and unfolds its visual beauty as well as its large, warm sound, that is warm and mature, bright and precise and features some sweet note.
