Old French violin made in Mirecourt aprund 1900

This unmistakably French Mirecourt violin with its attractively antique appearance was crafted by Laberte in the 1910's in Mirecourt, the famous violin-making town in the Vosges Mountains. The same region also provided the beautiful tonewoods for the violin, which was patterned after a model by Antonio Stradivari. The orange-brown varnish shows slight signs from playing and patination; the deeply carved scroll is distinctly French in character. The violin makers in our workshop have thoroughly gone over this gorgeous French "Stradivarius-violin" which is preserved crack free and has a high quality tone, set it up and made it ready to play to a high standard. The clear sound of this violin has a mature, ringing undertone and is very well balanced, sweet and resonant: it is a good example of the high tonal standards of the French violin-making tradition.
