Fine German violin bow, Knopf workshop, approx. 1890

This fine 19th century German violin bow is an unstamped masterpiece that was fashioned of the finest materials in Markneukirchen in the late 19th century. It is a fine German violin bow unmistakably made in the Knopf Markneukirchen workshop around 1890. Its soft and delicate round stick is made of top-quality pernambuco, and the ebony frog features silver fittings, a mother-of-pearl eye and a three-piece button. This fine German violin bow is 74.3 cm long and weighs 60.6 g; its balance point feels weighted towards the middle, slightly inlcined twards the lower half of the stick, giving the violin bow excellent playability, and is measured at 26.6 cm from the button. This fine German Knopf workshop violin bow is in excellent condition and was made ready to play in our workshop and draws a fine sound that is clear, noble, fluid and resonant.
