Franco Abanelli, Italian violin - Bologna, 1997
This modern Italian violin by Franco Albanelli is an especially interesting affordable instrument within our selection of contemporary Italian violins. It was made in Bologna in 1997 and is one of the simpler quality instruments that were made by Franco Albanelli later in his career, which can be seen in comparision to a significantly finer 1991 Albanelli instrument that we offer here. Yet this mid priced Franco Albanelli violin that combines all the advantages of traditional and modern violin making. The purfling was crafted carefully and precisely, just as the shining orange oil varnish that was richly applied. The one-piece back was made from mildly flamed sycamore maple, that clearly demonstrates the high quality of the tonewoods Franco Abanelli chose for this violin. The violin is originally labeled and dated and was meticulously worked over and set up by the violin makers at Corilon violins. Without any repair or danage, the violin is in perfect, immediate playing condition, ready to unfold its bright, brilliant sound, that is rich in overtones, powerful and resonant.
